I joined the US Army on 06 Sept 1966 in Spokane, WA. Basic training was at Fort Polk Louisiana, “Tiger Land”.

AIT, Topographical mapping, was at Fort Belvoir VA where I finished May 1967. I was then assigned to 64th Engineers battalion in Teheran, Iran. “TTT” Topo training team. Arrived 25 May 1967, two weeks before the Middle East war broke out. Six days was a long time being new to the Middle East.

First Iranian assignment in June took me to Yazd. Among the things I carried were two important ones that stand out. 1. A Kodak Instamatic camera 2. An Angry 9 short wave radio

The photos you are getting are nearly 100 percent from that camera. The radio changed my MOS. After 4 months doing field surveys in Yazd, on 1955 aerial photography, they thought my skills as a radio operator were needed in Teheran. Bruce Bright was my boss. I occasionally made field trips to Mashhad as radio operator at “Landlords” for two week stints. Most of my time in Teheran was in the “Ampere” Station.

My memories of Don Bradner were you carrying your camera with telephoto lenses. Always around taking pictures, I did not know that you had taken the shot of me on the roof with the ill fated guitar.

The two buses laying on their sides on either side of the center bus, crashed head on in the middle of the night because they drove with headlights off. 34 dead.

Fed X iranian style	Public works project. Hard working folks in the direct sun when it's 110 in the shade.	Iranian rials with the shah and a lottery ticket I bought in yazd.	Take a close look, my camera, nothing like (Don's), a Kodiak instamatic.	Petro station. 25 cents a gallon for gas. Beautiful buildings. Next photo shows mosaic up close.
